OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY & CLATSOP COUNTY FIRE DEFENSE BOARD - OPEN BURN REGULATIONS FOR 2007/2008
The following Guidelines have been adopted and
shall be followed for burning within the protection area of the
Gearhart Fire Department.
1. Burning shall be attended at all times.
2. All burning shall be conducted during daylight hours only.
Exception, prearranged burns, recreational and/or cooking fires.
3. All burning shall be in burning barrels or piles no larger than 4ft x 4ft. Piles larger than 4ft x 4ft shall have approval prior to ignition.
4. Burning may be banned at any time due to extreme dryness.
5. All piles and barrels shall be clear of all combustibles (brush, grass, etc.), and shall be no closer than 25 feet to any structure (building, fence, etc.).
6. Smoke from a burn that affects health or causes property damage shall not be allowed.
7. An effective means of extinguishment shall be available on site (hose, extinguisher, tools, etc.).
8. All fires shall be completely extinguished prior to leaving.
9. Burning of wood debris and yard waste ONLY.
